Danene brown, PT, DPT
Danene has been with the Gait Center since 2009 and practicing PT for 20 years. Her interests and skills range from orthopedics, sports, neurologic, to gait impairments. Her overall goal with patients is to empower them to understand their unique circumstances, how to adapt impactful changes to meet his/her goals; as well as, collaborating with her fabulous teammates. She is from western PA (Go Steelers!) and completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Clarion University of PA, and her Doctorate of PT at Slippery Rock University of PA.
Highlights of Danene’s career include living in Hawaii for 3 years where she developed her manual skills and took part in community outreach by organizing post event physical assessments and corporate wellness programs (not to mention, learning some ocean sports like outrigger canoeing, surfing, and stand up paddleboarding!). She is in the midst of Mission Gait’s Gait Certification Program to further her analysis and treatment of gait impairments including amputation, neuropathies, and complex orthopedic problems. At the Gait Center she takes part in marketing projects and social media outreach. She acts as Clinical Coordinator of graduate school internships and residences for our future PTs to ensure that quality (not quantity) education and experiences are emphasized.
Out of the office, Danene spends most of her time outdoors. You can find her on the river stand up paddleboarding, in the mountains hiking, in her garden digging dirt, or on the road traveling. She also enjoys home renovation, fashion, and is certified to teach Yoga. If you know Danene at all, you know she adores her furry children and will tell you all about them! She loves living in the Northside of RVA with her husband Darryl, who is retired from the U.S. ARMY. They have a daughter in Florida who also works in the medical field.
